Breast Reduction In Hertfordshire

Breast reduction in Hertfordshire

What is a breast reduction?

Breast reduction (with the aim to have smaller breasts) can help women of all ages to overcome the discomfort caused by large and heavy pendulous breasts. The aim is to produce a smaller, lighter, improved breast shape, proportionate to the rest of an individual’s figure. This can also reduce the problem of back pain that heavy breasts may cause. Pinehill hospital in Hitchin in Herts offer this surgery and a fortunate to have experienced and highly skilled qualified surgeons working at the hospital.

How is it performed?

The procedure involves the surgical removal of breast fat, glandular tissue and skin, under general anaesthetic and usually involves a one to two night stay in hospital to recover. It involves the surgical reduction of breast tissue and the restoration of contour through a series of carefully planned and measured excisions.

This restoration normally involves the removal of reasonably large volumes of breast tissue and the relocation of the nipple and the surrounding skin back into the centre of the newly created breast shape. Patients are fully anaesthetised throughout this procedure, which can take an average of two to three hours to perform.

Who should I see, what next?

At Pinehill, we believe that it is important for you to have realistic expectations of the improvements that can be achieved through breast augmentation surgery. Your Consultant Plastic Surgeon will take into account your age, skin texture, and the existing shape and position of your breast tissue and nipples when predicting the outcome of your results. It is therefore essential to have a thorough consultation with a surgeon who specialises in breast surgery before you make a decision to go ahead with a procedure. We have a number of excellent experienced Consultants; Mr Javaid,  Mr Nick JamesMr Miles Dickson, Mr Frank Conroy and Mr Fred Schreuder. We also have a lady surgeon, Miss Harleen Deol who is a breast surgeon who specialised in reconstructive breast surgery. Please call us to arrange an initial consultation where any one of these consultants will be happy to discuss your wishes and answer any questions. Call us on 01462 410 002.

What are the results like and how will I feel?

This procedure can provide a better quality of life, freeing women from the considerable physical and practical difficulties caused by overly large breasts. Women who have had breast reduction surgery frequently report that their self confidence and feeling of well being is boosted following surgery.

This advanced corrective procedure needs to be performed by a Consultant Plastic Surgeon who is fully qualified and well experienced to skillfully perform this type of surgery. However, it is important to note that no matter how high the surgical standards, this procedure cannot be performed without the introduction of visible surgical scars on the operated area.

Are there any risks involved having a breast reduction?

All surgery involves an element of risk from developing complications. However, cosmetic surgery is usually undertaken voluntarily and only when a patient is in good health. Therefore, the probability of experiencing complications from this kind of surgery are substantially lower than those who undergo surgery due to ill health.

How much does it cost?

The initial consultation costs are in the region of £120. Our fixed price package for the surgery is in the region of £6157 and this includes surgeon, anaesthetist fees and the hospital costs including overnight accommodation and a follow up consultation with the Consultant. Please call us on 01462 410 002 for more details.
