Dr Simon Greenfield is a Consultant Gastroenterologist, specialising in all upper and lower gastro-intestinal disorders
All upper and lower gastro-intestinal disorders including liver disease and biliary problems. Expertise in all forms of diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy as well as ERCP. Interests in dyspepsia/reflux/peptic ulcer/helicobacter. Bowel interests in altered bowel habit, irritable bowel, inflammatory bowel disease, colon cancer.
When meeting a patient Dr Greenfield's philosophy is to take a detailed history of your problems and in particular to focus on any areas of diet that may be influencing your symptoms. If required he may undertake a gastroscopy/colonoscopy but he believes that this is only a small part of the treatment process and it is important to take a holistic view when treating someone with gut symptoms. Apart from medication, dietary advice plays an important part in some treatment strategies. He is keen that the patient is involved in the treatment plan and is offered a choice in their treatment whenever possible.
