Neil Cheek
Neil is the Department Manager. He qualified in 2003 having
trained at the University of Brighton and initially worked in the
NHS before moving in to the private sector. Neil’s primary
interests are in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of
sports injuries and the biomechanical analysis of movement. Neil is
also a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered
Physiotherapists (AACP)
Joanne Howells
Jo qualified from the University of Brighton in 1993. She worked
in the NHS for 5 years in a variety of settings. Jo joined Pinehill
in 2007 and completed a masters degree in Neuromusculoskeletal
Physiotherapy in 2005 and is a member of the Manipulation
Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP). Jo’s interests
include the comprehensive analysis of movement and function to
identify the relationship between cause and symptoms of
musculoskeletal problems.
Linda Exelby
Linda initially qualified in South Africa and has worked in
South Africa, Australia and the UK. She is a Fellow of the
Manipulation Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) and
completed her post graduate diploma in manual therapy in Perth,
Australia in 1990. Linda joined Pinehill as Clinical Specialist in
1997. She is also involved in lecturing and examining on various
manual therapy masters programs in the UK. She is also a senior
lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire.
Sue Swaney
Sue qualified in 1987 and worked in the NHS for 10 years. During
this time she developed her skills within the musculoskeletal field
gaining membership of the Manipulation Association of Chartered
Physiotherapists (MACP) in 1991. Sue has also worked as part of a
plastic surgery team, gaining valuable experience in the diagnosis
and treatment of hand injuries. Sue joined Pinehill in 2001.
Nicola Nash
Nicola qualified from the University of Sheffield in 2001. She
worked for 3 years in the NHS before specialising in
musculoskeletal injuries. Nicola joined Pinehill in 2004 and is a
member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists
(AACP).
Rebecca Sessions
Becky studied at the University of Hertfordshire and qualified
in 2004. She worked in the NHS and intermediate care until joining
Pinehill in 2006. Becky is the department’s Women’s and Men’s
health Physiotherapist and also has an interest in ME/Chronic
Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia as well as treating
musculoskeletal problems. She is also a member of the Acupuncture
Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP).
Christopher Lewis
Chris qualified from the University of Hertfordshire in 2007. He
worked in the NHS before joining Pinehill in 2010. His interests
are in the treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries which
includes working as first team Physiotherapist for a National
League Rugby union team. Chris is a member of the Acupuncture
Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP).
Bally Lidder
Bally qualified in 1993 with a BSc(Hons) in Physiotherapy from
Wolverhampton University. . She worked in all areas of
physiotherapy in the NHS before specialising in the
Neuromusculoskeletal field. She has worked in both the NHS and
private sector. Bally has a keen interest in acupuncture and
obtained an MSc in Acupuncture from Coventry University in
2004.
Toly Lau
Toly joined Pinehill having qualified from the University of
Hertfordshire in 2006. Toly shares her time between post
operatively rehabilitating patients on the wards following surgery
and assessing and treating musculoskeletal outpatients.
Sue Tucker
Sue trained at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Birmingham and
qualified in 1977. She has since worked in the NHS and the private
sector as well as being contracted as a civilian Physiotherapist to
the Armed Forces specialising in musculoskeletal injuries, their
recovery and rehabilitation to full fitness. Sue joined Pinehill in
2009 as an inpatient Physiotherapist working on the wards, treating
post operative patients.
Dianne Wallis
Di qualified in 1085 and has since worked in the NHS, in a
variety of settings. She spent several years working with disabled
adults with the aim of improving their physical ability and well
being. Her work in now divided between Pinehill, where she treats
musculoskeletal outpatients, and a Palliative care hospice.
Jane Jenkins
Jane qualified from Queen Elizabeth school of Physiotherapy in
1980. She has since worked in several NHS hospitals before moving
to Bedfordshire after her marriage. Jane joined Pinehill in 1991
and works on the wards treating post operative patients including
joint replacement.
Penelope Robinson
Pen qualified in the 1960’s from the London Hospital School of
Physiotherapy and proceeded to work in the NHS for 16 years. She
then joined the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) to work
as Professional Assistant to the CEO. Over 23 years Pen worked as
the Professional lead for the CSP before retiring from her post in
2005. It was at this time that Pen joined Pinehill and has
primarily worked as an inpatient Physiotherapist with a particular
interest in the rehabilitation of joint replacement.
Kirsty Covell
Kirsty qualified in 2005 from Brunel University, London. She
initially worked for East and North Herts PCT as a rotational
Physiotherapist. Since 2008 she has worked for West Herts PCT as a
Senior Paediatric Physiotherapist and joined Pinehill in 2009 as a
bank Orthopaedic Physiotherapist. Her main interests are
Paediatrics, Orthopaedics and Neurology.
Christina Ellis BSc(Hons), MCSP, MMACP
Christina qualified in 1983 from the University of
Ulster in Northern Ireland. She worked for 10 years at St
Bartholomew's hospital and the Luton and Dunstable before moving in
to private practice.
Christina has a wide range of musculoskeletal
experience, holding special interests in whiplash injuries,
ergonomics, acupuncture and Pilates. In 1990 Christina
qualified as a member of the MACP
